Well, I have a good server, but you won't immediately become a mod or admin. It's a great server where you have lots of opportunity to build and great people, so you might like it. However, don't ever ask for mod. The owner hates that. Plus asking for items gets you banned now, so that stinks, but we are strict. But if you are good, help out (but not to a point where you're taking the jobs of the mods), and obey the rules, you'll have a great time. Normally it takes about a half a year or so to become a mod (normally you must be recommended by a mod or admin to the owner), but the mods are as happy as can be. If you see hipp013, tell him TheKiyon brought you here. :D

My general "rule of thumb" about accepting new moderators is that if a player asks for the position, they will likely never get it. I feel that a potential moderator "candidate" should be someone that is active both ingame and throughout the community (i.e. on our forums, chat, etc) and also beneficial to the server's community as a whole.

I'm sure many people have witnessed someone join a server for the first time, and the very first thing they say is "hey, can I be an op/admin?". Some server owners may actually promote this person right then and there, but often times it's a very dangerous move. Giving op/admin powers to someone who hasn't even played on the server for five minutes is like giving a toddler a bunch of chocolates and letting them run around a Wal-mart. My point is, chaos will almost certainly ensue and you leave yourself open to large-scale griefing and other trouble.

Even if the player isn't intending to do harm with his moderator/admin powers, you likely don't know anything about them and that can be just as dangerous in itself. When I look for new moderators on my server, I take many different factors into my decision such as their role in the server's community, how they've acted on the server, if they have a previous record with behaviour or rulebreaking, and more importantly how they react in certain situations.

Sorry for the lengthy post; I just wanted to get my thoughts out there. In any case, I wish you well with finding a server to "call home", and perhaps one day getting promoted to moderator.

You sure have a lot to say about everything Sheldrake, but in a good way. Also even if the person that you op is good, you never know what will set them off and make them go on a griefing/ banning rampage. But I doubt that's you amc. I'm just stating what would general happen, which is why I can't immediately op you. I'm sure you're good and will be a great helper. :)

Sheldrake I seriously couldn't have said it better myself :D When your only thinking about getting mod, you will never be able to have any fun on the server because thats all you will be thinking of. If you ask for it, you don't get it. Its simple as that, Sorry this is coming so late, I just had to agree with you xD
